GIPSA makes available to the public a variety of grain inspection materials that are created for the United States Official Inspection System. These materials are available at wholesale pricing with a minimum order of $100 for any combination of items.

VRI Lab Reference ($2.50 per page)
Visual Reference Images (VRI) are used to ensure consistent and uniform application of grading lines and illustrate types of damage in conjunction with written descriptions.
The VRI Lab Reference pages are printed on 8.5" x 11" laminated paper with up to four images and the accompanying written descriptions per page.

VRI General Appearance Prints ($1.50 each)
The VRI general Appearance Prints are 5" x 7" laminated prints depicting a general appearance condition that affects the value of grain.

Principal VRI Desk Reference ($3.00 each)
The Principal VRI Desk References are printed on 8.5" x 11" laminated paper with twenty-eight images on one page. The accompanying written descriptions are included on separate pages. There are two versions of the Desk Guide:
Sheet A includes the primary VRI for Corn, Soybeans and Sorghum.
Sheet B includes the primary VRI for Wheat, Barley, Canola, Rye, Oats, Flaxseed and Sunflower Seed.
Complete VRI Desk Reference ($10.00 each)
The Complete VRI Desk References contains the full set of interpretive lines for the standardized grains. The VRI are printed on four 8.5" x 11" laminated pages with up to twenty-eight images per page. The accompanying written descriptions are included on separate pages.
Grain Grading Mats ($3.00 each)
Grain Grading Mats are designed for use in training situations. Each 11" x 17" laminated mat contains the Grade and Grade Requirements table, a picking surface, and the principal damage VRI Interpretive Lines.
Mats are available in several languages for most grains.

VRI Strips ($5.00 each)
The VRI Strip Set is a 1" x 4.25" laminated grading aid designed to be used as a quick reference. The strips are small enough to be carried by an inspector in a shirt pocket.
The set is made up of individual laminated strips depicting the three most common damages for each of the four major US grains: corn, soybeans, sorghum, and wheat.

Our grading tutorials are designed for training novice inspectors and cover the inspection process from initial sample breakdown to grade assignment.
